What to expect from the national beverage market: New trends, growths and preferences  brazilian

    In 2016, the Brazilian beverage industry accounted for 1.9% of the country's GDP. In 2017, it went through recurrent drops in relation to the volume sold, but it is still responsible for employing 20% of the Brazilian population, according to the data  of Sebrae. The rapid growth of the sparkling wine market, the increased demand for Kombucha and the new desire for whiskey are some of the trends for this market.

 

Rapid growth of the sparkling wine market

    The Brazilian sparkling wine promises to consolidate itself more and more worldwide. The product's popularity has been recognized internationally, since Brazil won more than 200 medals in 2018 for the quality of its sparkling wines. According to Abravin, the country's performance promises to consolidate the category as a flagship in the Brazilian beverage market, transforming the country into an international reference.

 

Kombucha as an alternative for healthy consumption

    Kombucha is the newest trend at the moment, the demand for healthy products has increased consumption both in Brazil and globally, which has expanded the drink beyond natural trade networks. In the country, production began in an artisanal way and has recently started to be produced by large companies. Worldwide, this market grows on average 25% a year and promises to triple by 2020, moving US$ 1.8 billion at the end of the decade, according to data from Valor Econômico.

 

Whiskey as a new Brazilian preference

    Whiskey is a product that has been attracting assiduous attention in Brazil. With global appreciation of more than 40% last year, the increase in demand in Brazil was 12% during the first half of 2016, which demonstrates a new desire for the consumption of the drink. Nielsen Media Research statistics show that it is the favorite spirit for consumption at home and the most consumed for watching sports, with 49% of the total.

 

New trends for the national beverage market

    Far beyond the traditional Brazilian beverage market, these new trends point to a possible diversification of the sector and other national preferences that may come to consolidate as new centers of entrepreneurship in the country.
